My thoughts: I have really become a fan of Wendy Webb's Gothic ghost stories and this one is definitely going down as one of my favorites. I was completely mesmerized by this story - once I started reading it, I had a hard time putting it down.

I loved the way this story was told - alternating between the past and present, moving back and forth so effortlessly. I was equally engaged in both Kate and Addie's stories and couldn't get enough of either of them. The writing is so vivid, I felt that I was right there alongside both of them, viewing the towns.

The atmosphere that Wendy Webb creates really comes alive. I felt not only a strong sense of place as I was reading but also that sense of foreboding throughout. And even the ghost stories felt real, and I'm not really one for believing in them. As we got towards the end of the book, when all the pieces of the puzzle had just about been revealed, I thought I had it all worked out, only to have everything twisted up, and then twisted up yet again. I was sure I had it all figured out and yet I was so surprised!

This is the perfect book to cozy up with on a dark, stormy night and just get lost in...you won't regret it!!!
