Detective Lindsay Boxer has everything she could possibly want. Her marriage and baby daughter are perfect, and life in Homicide in the San Francisco Police Department is going well. But all that could change in an instant.

Lindsay is called to a crime scene at the Four Seasons Hotel. There is a dead man in one of the rooms, shot at close range. The man checked in under a false name with no ID on him, so the first puzzle will be finding out who he is.

In the room next door are a dead young man and woman, also shot. They are surrounded by high-tech surveillance equipment. Could they have been spying on the man now dead in the room next to them?

And in the utilities cupboard down the hall is the dead body of a house maid. The murders are all clearly linked and professionally executed. But what is the motive behind it all? Lindsay will need to risk everything she has to find out.

***Short & Sweet Reviews are short, quick reviews. These will mainly be used for series books where I have already done full reviews on some of the earlier books or for books that I feel will suffice with a quick review. These will not be used for review requests or blog tours.

My thoughts: These books are definitely what I consider my "guilty pleasure" reading. They are certainly not what you call deep reading - you just need to go into them for the enjoyment of the read. I love the gals - the group of four women that make up the Women's Murder Club, and as long as I remind myself of that, I just take it for what it is.

That being said, I really have to say this particular book was really about Lindsay and her personal dilemma. Yes, there were some cases going on  - and boy were they crazy and kept everyone busy - but for Lindsay, her focus really was on what was going on with Joe. She was discovering things about her husband she had never known because he had never told her and that's kind of a big deal! So...I'm very curious to see how this all plays out because I love them as a couple and that ending leaves us wondering what's going to happen with them.

And speaking of endings...really? Another cliff-hanger? Why? Especially when you never really resolved the one you gave us last time. Did you decide you didn't like that one? Are you going to pick that one up at a later time? I guess only time will tell!
